AirTrain

SFO's AirTrain provides year-round service 24 hours a day, with station departures as frequent as every four minutes. AirTrain is wheelchair accessible. Space is designated for wheelchairs at each end of AirTrain cars. Elevator service is available at all AirTrain stations. If you lose an item on AirTrain, you can contact the Lost and Found.

AirTrain operates two lines:

  • The Blue Line connects the Rental Car Center with all terminals, terminal garages and the BART Station.

What You Can Bring on AirTrain

Airport Luggage Carts

SFO installed hand brakes on all airport luggage carts to keep them steady during travel. For your safety, please set the brake once you board an AirTrain car and do not take carts onto escalators.

Animals

Service animals and animals being shipped are permitted on AirTrain. Animals being shipped must be crated at all times.

Bicycles

Bicycles are allowed on AirTrain. Please be courteous of other passengers.

Prohibited Activity

Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed on AirTrain.

Walking the Airport

Due to construction, a portion of Terminal 1 is closed on both levels. The best way to get from the International Terminal to Terminal 1 Gates B (Gates B1 – B27) is by walking. The best way to get from the International Terminal to Terminal 2 (Gates C1 – C11 and D1 – D18) is via AirTrain. The best way to get from the International Terminal to Terminal 3 (Gates E1 – E13 and F1 – F22, United) is by walking. However, AirTrain is your only means to and from the Rental Car Center

Information Booths

Information booths, staffed with friendly volunteers, are located throughout the terminals. Please view the Information Booths map for exact locations. Language assistance is available.
